1-1-18 Walk #82 Weekend Lay Director Letter to Community
To all our Emmaus Friends, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
As your Walk #82 Weekend Lay Directors, we bring news of the upcoming Walk.
Consistent with last year’s shift in Weekend oversight responsibility from the Community Lay Directors to rotating Weekend Lay Directors, we’ve been actively preparing for the upcoming Walk over the past few months. This process began with the initial Team Selection effort last Fall, and will continue through all of the upcoming Team meetings and Weekend itself.
This has truly opened our eyes as to the efforts put forth by all the prior CLDs and WLDs. The amount of work and time involved just in building the Team is incredible, and we haven’t even made it to the Team meetings yet! So we celebrate the service of all past leaders and thank them for their unselfish service!
Part of this continuing shift reflects a move toward the Upper Room’s “progression of responsibility”. This means moving through positions of increased responsibility – from Agape team, through Assistant Table Leader, Table Leader, Assistant WLD (twice per the official guidelines) before becoming a Weekend Lay Director. This is still a work in progress. People have been called to serve, even if all those boxes haven’t been checked. There is still room on the Spring Team for a few more Community members to serve. While we try to consider all possible options during Team selection, there are many of you that are willing and able to serve, but might not have been considered. Please let us know if you are interested in serving on Team for this Walk, or future Walks. We’ll prayerfully consider all who volunteer, and pass along any names to the next WLDs. Dan can be reached at (508) 272-7695 or dangenannt@comcast.net for the Men’s Team, and Coni can be reached at (401) 578-8149 of cjferland@gmail.com for the Women’s Team.
As you’ve heard before, prayer is central to all we do. Please continue to pray for the Teams being called for Walk 82, as well as the Pilgrims being invited, and those already accepted. The Pilgrim application deadline is Jan 21st, before the first Team training, which allows the Board to decide if the Walks will proceed before the Team training begins. While this is the go/no-go decision point, applications may still be accepted after that date. If you have a potential Pilgrim, NOW is the time to have a conversation, if you haven’t already, and complete an application for those Pilgrims interested in participating in Walk #82. Please pray for all those involved in this process.
Please check the SNE Emmaus website to keep up to date and in touch with the Community. We are all 4th day Pilgrims, it’s not only about the first 3 days, but living in the Grace and Love of our mighty Savior in all our 4th days.
May the Peace, Joy and Love of Christ be in your hearts this New Year.
DeColores!
